Warren Platner (1919–2006) studied at Cornell University and earned his degree in architecture in 1941.
He subsequently worked with legendary architects such as Raymond Loewy, Eero Saarinen, and I.M. Pei, before founding his own architectural firm.
Throughout his career, Platner made a number of remarkable architectural contributions, including the Georg Jensen Design Center and the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Center, both in New York City.
However, it was his furniture collection for Knoll that brought Platner worldwide fame. The Platner Collection, originally introduced by Knoll in 1966, is an icon of modern furniture.
Platner personally developed the production techniques for the complex designs, with each chair requiring more than a thousand welds and over a hundred cylindrical steel rods. Knoll also introduced a collection designed by Platner for executive offices.
Warren Platner lounge chair + ottoman this is a limited edition featuring an 18-karat gold-plated base combined with beautiful aquamarine mohair velvet upholstery. Underlying paper guarantees & certificates are included.
